Wish You Knew

I heard your name in conversation

Seemed fine as usual and busy too

Been quite awhile since I remembered

Wish you knew how much I still love you

I climbed a tree up on the river bluff

Took me half the day just to find it

It’s got the prettiest view

And a seat for two

Wish you knew how much I still love you

It’s true you can loose your love in a thousand ways

But you can’t keep your heart in some dusty box forever

I’ll be blamed if it’ll make me blue

But I just wish you knew how much I still love you

Interlude

Sometimes I almost hear us laughin’

But I don’t let it make me blue

It almost seems a shame we’re happy

Wish you knew how much I still love you

Chorus

I Can't Lose Her Now

She woke up fumblin’, lookin’ for another cover, she said her feet

were cold

I know I should get up, the pilot light’s out again

But I lay here listenin’ to this December wind

And all she knows is she sure could use me now

When I was younger I used to dream, I used to wonder, tryin’ to

picture this

I never imagined this kind of aching cold

I don’t know how it happened but we’re finally gettin’ old

And all I know is I can't lose her now

I hear her whisperin’ in her sleep---none of it making any sense

Or is it my imagination?

Maybe I almost feel asleep, maybe she never said a word

Maybe there's no explanation

The early morning city sounds, through our window, bring us back

again

The frost in the air was never quite like this

And all I know is I won't lose her now

All I know is I won't lose her now

Country Bumpkin

Sittin' in the corn

She and I

Watchin' the geese

Fly on by in the sky up above

Together in love

Oh she's my pumpkin

And I'm her country bumpkin

Walkin' below

A blue harvest moon

Down by the lake

We heard a loon that was crooning a toon

Above to the moon

Oh yes she's my pumpkin

And I'm her country bumpkin

Will she still need me

When I'm far away

Should any doubts about her

Care to come my way

Walkin' along

An old gravel road

We found a toad

And let it go in the road oh no

The car squished the toad

Oh but she's my pumpkin

And I'm her country bumpkin

The Rain Fell

The rain fell all night long

Just like a simple song

That carries your blues away

It fell without a sound

Falling to the ground

To wash the night away

There were the chickens and the cows

There were the flowers pulled from the ground

There was the water in my house

The cats had all gone as quite as a mouse

Hmmm hmmm hmmmm

The rain fell all night long

Like a simple song

That carries your blues away

It fell without a sound

Falling to the ground

To wash the night away

The Coyote and the Prairie Dog

Now I'm a coyote livin' on the range

Tryin' to do my best to keep from getting' mange

One day when I was out wanderin' around

I came upon a prairie dog town

Down their holes they scurried away

As I came up to them all I could say was

Awooo the prairie dog's my brother

Awooo the prairie dog's my brother

'Cause I'm a vegetarian coyote

I proposed that we could find a mutual accord

Whereby their trust in me they would and could afford

To spite the wicked hawk on wing that swoops out of the sky

And no more run from shadows of clouds floating by

For this all manner of bug and root and berry

They bring me in a den in which we would be merry

Awoo the prairie dog's my brother

Awoo the prairie dog's my brother

'Cause I'm a vegetarian coyote….

At least for a couple of days

A Country Boy and Girl

On the farm as a boy

I'd run through fields

and dream of her

and dream of her

and dream of her

A sixty-four Chevy Car

we'd cruise along

and dream of her

and dream of her

and dream of her

A country boy filled with country dreams

A country girl gave them all to me

A baby's born and before long

she runs through fields

we dream with her

and dream with her

and dream with her

Interlude

An eighty-four Chevy Car

He comes to call

we dream with her

And dream with her

And dream with her

A country boy filled with country dreams

A country girl gave them all to me
